About QINMIQ

Qinmiq American Eskimos is primarily a show home, in the greater San Francisco bay area. Ryan, Erin and Nathan are our three Junior Handlers, shown in Photo to the right. Our family includes three Wonderful Eskies Cody, Amethyst, and Katara

Our family adopted our first Eskie, Cody, as a 3-month old puppy and immediately started showing him as a Non-Licensed puppy in the UKC, as well as the Junior Handler ring, in 2008. Since then, Cody has received several Best of Breed and Group placements in UKC shows. In January of 2009 Cody received a Best of Opposite Sex placement at the Golden Gate Kennel Club blue-ribbon show and in March of 2009 was awarded his first Best of Breed in an AKC show. He was Handled by Nathan, who was 8 years old at that show. In November of 2008, we brought Amethyst home as a new family addition. She is a very nice female with good confromation. She began showing in early 2009 attending her first show in the AKC at the Apple Valley Kennel Club show, where she was awarded the Best of Opposite Sex, as a 6-month old puppy. Since then, she has earned her UKC champion title in April of 2009, and a UKC Best in Multi Breed Show. Katara is our new puppy, born in March of 2009.  As a non-licensed class puppy, Katara has won mulitple UKC Puppy Best in Multi Breed Show awards. We are looking forward to her career in the show ring.

After a successful 2008 year, our Junior handlers followed up with an exceptional year in 2009. In their first full year as Open Juniors, Erin placed #1, Ryan placed #6 and Nathan placed #8, in UKC Region 4 standings, which includes Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas and California. With all three of our Juniors in the Top 10 for 2009, they have each earned an invitation to compete in the National Top-Ten competition. We are proud of all three of our Amazing Juniors, and our Wonderful Eskies. Check out the current Open Junior Standings at the UKC website, the QINMIQ kids are in Region 4 (CA, CO, OK, & TX).

Amethyst is a truly fine example of the American Eskimo. She has a wonderful temperament, and great structure and movement. She has developed a very close relationship with our family and she warms up quickly to strangers. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is the daughter of sire Tikis Gamblinman of Sycamore and Cir-B Snobear's Aimin for the Top. She was bred by Jane Wood of  Arctic Magic's American Eskimo Dogs. Amethyst came home with us as a 10-week old puppy in November 2008. One week after turning six months old, Amethyst received an AKC placement as the Best of Opposite Sex at the Apple Valley Kennel Club. What a coming out party that was! She continues with her showing career and has earned several UKC Champion of Champions and Best of Breed placements. On July 4th 2009, at just over ten months of age, she received a Best in Multi-breed Show honor, under UKC judge Susan Nikkel. On October 18th, the day following the NAEDA National Specialty, Amethyst recieved the Reserve Champion of Champions award in a field of 12 extremely nice champion eskies from all over the United States. Amethyst is one major win away from her UKC Grand Champion title. On May 31, 2010 after taking several months off, Amethyst won her Grand Champion title in an impressive way, being put up in a class of seven very nice Champions, and then took Best of Breed and Group 1. She then entered the next ring for the first time as a Grand Champion and was awarded the Grand Champion class, followed by Best of Breed and another Group 1.

Katara is our most vocal family member, and an ideal example of the miniature American Eskimo Dog. She, like Cody, came to us from Virginia Voit of Tiki Kennels in Northern Oregon. She is the daughter of sire Tikis Montana Glacier and dam Kiskapoo Tikis Geisha Girl. She loves to run and play with Cody and Amethyst in the yard. She quickly integrated into the family. She is a very affectionate little girl and never misses the opportunity for a tummy rub. Shown several times in the UKC before the age of six months, Katara earned six Novice Puppy Best in Multibreed Show placements. In her first UKC show weekend, she demonstrated some serious potential when she was put up as Best of Breed at 6 1/2 months of age while in the ring with some very nice eskies. In October of 2009, Katara was awarded the Best Miniature Female Puppy at the National American Eskimo Dog Association breed specialty show. In January of 2010, Katara was given the honor of receiving an AKC Group 4th placement at the Golden Gate Kennel Club show, in San Francisco.

QINMIQ Juniors

Our family is very proud of our junior handlers. All three of them advanced in the UKC from Novice to Open juniors within the first year of showing. As three of the top ten handlers in the UKC Region 4, they have their work cut out for them competing against each other at every show they attend. That is some stiff competition!

                         Erin

Erin started showing the family's American Eskimo in the middle of 2008. After a couple of shows, she quickly became a proficient and successful handler, earning multiple Best Junior Handler awards. By years end, she had earned herself a spot in the Top 10 Open Junior Handlers, at number 5 in the Region 4 (CA, CO, OK, TX) and an invitation to the annual Top 10 Junior competition in Kalamazoo, MI. By the time the Top 10 competition arrived (mid-2009), Erin was near the top of the Open Junior class in the region. Shortly after returning from Kalamazoo, Erin moved into the top Open Junior spot in Region 4 and remained there through the end of the year. In October 2009, Erin competed in the junior handler ring at the National American Eskimo Dog Association specialty. After an intense competition with not only her two brothers who are both Top Ten handlers, but also two of the best handlers we have seen from Washington, she was able to capture the 2009 NAEDA Best Junior Handler award. Congratulations Erin!

Ryan

Ryan is the first junior in the family to compete. With our new 4-month old puppy in hand, Ryan entered the ring under Barbara Marin and started his showing career. Ryan emerged that day with a placement and his first ribbon. Amid stiff competition, it was about one year later that Ryan showed Cody for a Best of Breed placement and a Northern Group 2nd under Barbara Marin shown here to the right.  Ryan became fairly proficient at handling quite quickly. He finished in the UKC Top Ten for Novice Juniors earning the #4 postion. Early in 2009 Ryan earned his first Best Junior Handler award and was catapulted into the Open Junior class. Once in that class Ryan competed with Erin, Nathan and the other Open Juniors in California. Ryan earned his spot in the UKC Top Ten as the #6 Open Junior in Region 4 for 2009, and an invitation to the UKC Top 10 Junior handler competition.

                  Nathan

Nathan started his showing career as a UKC sub-junior. After five months he turned eight years old and was able to compete as a Novice Junior. On his first weekend showing as a Novice Junior, Nathan was given the opportunity to handle a dear friend's Toy Fox Terrier. Nathan really shined after studying up on the breed and it's history. He was able to answer all of the breed specific questions and won his first UKC Best Junior Handler placement, moving into the UKC Open Junior class. Nathan is shown in the picture to the left where he handled Cody for an AKC Best of Breed placement at the Apple Valley Kennel Club show in 2009. (Nathan was 8-years old). By the years end, Nathan earned a position in the UKC Top Ten as the #8 Open Junior Handler in Region 4 (CA, CO, OK & TX) and an invitation to the National UKC Top 10 Junior Handler competition.

Recent Show Activities

Central APBT Club of Southern Californiaer Club (UKC) May 30-31, 2010

The Qinmiq Family cruised down to Southern California to take part in a four show weekend hosted by the American Pit Bull Terrrier Club of Southern California. While the family had an adventure, that is a story for another forum. The show had a good eskie turn out on Saturday and an even better turn out on Sunday. On Saturday, our Juniors did a great job collecting some first and second place ribbons in the Open Junior and Senior classes. Nathan earned a Best Junior Handler award from Pamela Purdue on Sunday. The Qinmiq eskies represented the breed well in the champions class. On Saturday in a class of five champions Cody earned the Champion of Champions Ribbon, under Richard Klatt.  On Sunday, Amethyst and Katara were awarded the Champion and Reserve Champion honors, in a class of seven, completing Amethyst's Grand Champion Title, under Pamela Purdue. Amethyst was also awarded the Best of Breed, in the ring with a very nice Best of Winners and an absolutely Gorgeous Grand Champion. She completed that ring with a Group 1st of the three northern breeds. In the second ring, under Joyce Lea Hanson, the Champion awards went another way, but in Amethyst's first appearance in the Grand Champions Class she was given the prize and went on to another Best of Breed and Group 1.

Central Valley Rat Terrier Club (UKC) March 20, 2010

Having not been in a UKC show since October when we had the UKC American Eskimo Nationals, we went to two shows on Saturday. Judging that day were David L. Kittredge (right) and Richard Klatt (left). Thank you to both of them for recognizing Katara for the wonderful eskie that she is and awarding her the Best of Breed honor in both rings. What a great honor that is. Katara Finished her UKC conformation championship title with her second and third wins with those Best of Breed awards.

Golden Gate Kennel Club Blue Ribbon Dog Show 2010 (AKC) - January 30-31, 2010

The Novice Junior Handler class included Ryan and Nathan, both days at the show. With some stiff competition they were able to place, both days. Ryan earned 2nd and Nathan earned 3rd. Congratulations to Ryan and Nathan on a job well done.

Erin was terrific in the Novice Intermediate Junior handling ring both days. In with a couple of other good handlers, she did a fine job and earning two second place ribbons for the two shows.

Katara was in her first ever AKC show. As a 9-12 month old puppy, she earned the Reserve Winners Ribbon and the Puppy Best of Breed Title, under Judge Robert Stein. Later on Sunday, she went in the ring to compete with all of the other Non-Sporting Breed Puppies and earned a 4th Placement in the Non-Sporting Puppy Group, also under Robert Stein. She is a beautiful girl.

Available Puppies and Dogs

QINMIQ does not have any puppies available at this time. However, our friend Virginia Voit who bred both Cody and Katara has a very nice available puppy named Panzy.

This is Panzy.  She is a Miniature American Eskimo Puppy. She was born in April of 2010. She is a sweet puppy who is, like all puppies, a combination of energy and love.  Her mother is Tiger Lily, an AKC Champion and UKC Grand Champion. Both of her parents are wonderful examples of the American Eskimo Dog and Panzy will grow up to be as well.

[Click Here] if you are interested in meeting Panzy and maybe adding her to your family
